Mobile Application Accessibility Audit

Mobile application audits are conducted in a real-world setting. Our auditors test interfaces on various operating systems, using the devices’ native accessibility tools. For Android, we use TalkBack, and for iOS, we use VoiceOver. Some tests are also performed using an external keyboard and contrast testing tools.

Mobile applications must be accessible to people with disabilities

Users typically have over 80 apps installed on their smartphones and spend several hours a day engaging with them. This massive user base includes over 1.3 billion people worldwide who live with some form of disability. When an app fails to meet basic accessibility standards, such as support for screen readers like VoiceOver or TalkBack, it excludes a substantial segment of the population from accessing essential services, businesses, and communications.

FAQ Mobile Application Accessibility Audit

Here are the answers to the most frequently asked questions. If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

It depends on the size of the audit.

A mobile application audit is more time-consuming than a website audit, since all tests must be performed using several support tools. Additionally, the methodology for certain tests varies depending on the operating system, and recommendations for corrections must be tailored to each language.

The price depends on the number of pages selected in the sample. Prices therefore range from €2,200 to €6,500 for the most extensive audits. Since all our tests are performed manually, the higher the number of pages, the higher the price.

Le RGAA-APPS impose sa démarche

The following is the most rigorous methodology for selecting a representative sample for an application audit:

  • Mandatory pages: Home, authentication, contact, accessibility, legal notices, help, site map, and search;
  • Key pages in terms of user journeys (e.g., sales funnel);
  • Pages that bring together all types of media (e.g., videos) or content (e.g., tables, accordions, etc.);
  • 10% random pages.

4-6 weeks

Once the selected pages have been validated, we require between 4 and 6 weeks to conduct an accessibility audit of a mobile application. This timeframe is longer than a typical website audit, since we often need to test all criteria on both Android and iOS.

No!

It is impossible to automatically audit a mobile application. All tests are performed using assistive tools that reproduce user behaviour.
